More About Ashley Barnes, PMHNP-BC

Ashley Barnes is a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who takes an integrative, evidence-based, and whole-person approach to her patients. She believes effective treatment considers the complex relationship between the mind, brain, body, and environment, and she works collaboratively with patients to support lasting well-being.

Ashley began her career studying psychology at the University of Georgia, where she worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Behavioral Research. She later earned a second degree in nursing and developed a strong foundation in neuroscience while working as a Neuroscience ICU Registered Nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital and NYU Langone Health. Additionally, she gained valuable experience in psychiatric care while working in behavioral health at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue.

Drawing from neuroscience, psychiatry and integrative health, Ashley approaches treatment with curiosity, compassion, and consistent assessment. In addition to medication management and psychotherapy-informed care, she is particularly interested in innovative treatments for treatment-resistant conditions, such as Ketamine assisted therapy and other emerging psychedelic treatments. Alongside conventional psychiatric care, she is also a certified yoga instructor and appreciates the role that lifestyle, stress regulation, and self-awareness can play in mental health.

By creating a warm and non-judgmental environment, Ashley is passionate about helping patients build resilience and self-understanding and reconnect with a sense of clarity and alignment.

What Our Patients Say

The treatment was so much more comfortable than I thought it would be. I experienced slight discomfort during the first two treatments, but it was smooth sailing from then on!

Greg

Before starting TMS, I was so depressed that I couldn’t eat, sleep or get out of bed. I had stopped doing the things I enjoyed entirely, because I didn’t have the energy or interest. It took a few weeks, but I started to notice myself thinking more positively, and it kept improving from there. Thank you, Dr. Cohen!

Lauren

My depression improved dramatically throughout the course of my TMS treatment. I am finally able to sleep through the night and I am looking forward to living my life again. My entire family noticed the difference in me before I did. TMS changed my life after decades of failed medications and terrible side effects. I finally feel like “me” again.

Ben

Dr. Cohen and his team are so fantastic! They did everything they could to make me feel comfortable, and I started feeling better after the first dose of Ketamine!

Verified Patient

I am so thankful to Dr. Cohen and his team! Thanks to them and the Ketamine treatment, I’m feeling better than I have in years. I was pleasantly surprised that there were no side effects.

Matthew

The suite in which I received the treatment was comfortable and welcoming. I was able to relax during the treatments and each time I left, I felt more at peace.
