Ashley Barnes is a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who takes an integrative, evidence-based, and whole-person approach to her patients. She believes effective treatment considers the complex relationship between the mind, brain, body, and environment, and she works collaboratively with patients to support lasting well-being.
Ashley began her career studying psychology at the University of Georgia, where she worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Behavioral Research. She later earned a second degree in nursing and developed a strong foundation in neuroscience while working as a Neuroscience ICU Registered Nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital and NYU Langone Health. Additionally, she gained valuable experience in psychiatric care while working in behavioral health at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue.
Drawing from neuroscience, psychiatry and integrative health, Ashley approaches treatment with curiosity, compassion, and consistent assessment. In addition to medication management and psychotherapy-informed care, she is particularly interested in innovative treatments for treatment-resistant conditions, such as Ketamine assisted therapy and other emerging psychedelic treatments. Alongside conventional psychiatric care, she is also a certified yoga instructor and appreciates the role that lifestyle, stress regulation, and self-awareness can play in mental health.
By creating a warm and non-judgmental environment, Ashley is passionate about helping patients build resilience and self-understanding and reconnect with a sense of clarity and alignment.
